THE IDEA

The pursuit of experimenting with fine materials has given form to the first Linde Werdelin jewelled masterpiece in a masculine chronograph sport watch. SpidoSpeed Black Diamond is a unique composition of black diamonds, mother of pearl, DLC (Diamond-Like-Carbon) coated steel and blued-steel.

The cut of the superior grade diamonds recalls the complex design of the Spido family’s 3-dimensional cases. Multifaceted surfaces generate a variety of reflected lights given by the different materials and finishes on the watch. The contrast between diamond, microbillé and satin finish combined with the mother of pearl on the dial and the blued steel hands convey a very unique colour effect.

THE CASE

32 parts are individually designed and put together in a complex three-part skeletonised construction to create the true 3-dimensional skeletonised experience. The whole case including the crown, the push-buttons of the chronograph, the case-back, and all the skeletonised parts of the SpidoSpeed have undergone a DLC treatment. The black DLC coating consents to increase hardness and scratch resistance, ensuring ultimate robustness as well as a matte stealth finish.

Each 48 superior grade black diamond of 1.57 carats is masterfully mounted inside the bezel with exceptional accuracy. The brilliant cut of the diamond is one of the most favourable forms for enhancing the play of lights and shades.

THE DIAL

The dial is constructed into two parts with the use of different colours and surface combinations to enhance the sense of depth. The depth is further heightened by the light and shine of a rare mother of pearl dial.

The dial on the lower layer carries the Linde Werdelin black logo, while atop of it sits the upper dial layer with the printing of indexes and numerals as well as the chronograph sub-dials of hours, minutes and seconds in a complimentary light grey. Hours and minutes hands are made in blued steel to give an interesting visual contrast.

A black diamond is added onto the hours sub-dial at 4:30 to replace the original letter ”R”, standing for the “Rock” (ski instrument) or the “Reef” (dive instrument) and indicating how long it takes to fully "Re-charge" the instrument.

THE MOVEMENT

The SpidoSpeed is powered by a custom-made integrated chronograph movement, partially visible through the sapphire crystal case-back. This bespoke movement allows the crown and pushers to be completely aligned and to facilitate the attachment of the Linde Werdelin instruments.

The SpidoSpeed comes in a family of 7 models: Gold, Black Diamond, Rose Gold with DLC Titanium, Black Orange, Anthracite DLC, Black DLC, and Steel.
