The SpidoSpeed is Linde Werdelin's first chronograph model, designed with strong reference to the first series of the SpidoLite, revealing yet more inspirations from the racing car industry. The SpidoSpeed Chronograph is a fine example of pure craftsmanship, constructed of a technically-complex fully skeletonised case and a multiple-layered dial to bring you an all round 3-dimensional experience.
“I wanted the SpidoSpeed to be a lasting 3-dimensional experience from all angles for the owner to find it interesting to look at for years to come,” Morten Linde.
The SpidoSpeed features a brand new fully skeletonised case created with weight reduction technology while maintaining a robust structure. A total of 32 components have been artfully and meticulously put together in a three-part construction. Perfecting the skeletonisation and construction of the case alone was a two-year long process. Such level of complexity and construction challenge for a watch case is a wonder in the watchmaking industry. It takes lengthy hours of meticulous work by hand to complete a case, as each requires exceptional accuracy.
The dial has been constructed into two parts comprised of as many as ten layers to accentuate the 3-dimensional experience, following the same design philosophy as the case and adding depth to the watch when reading time. The ability of the eye to focus on millimetres makes the SpidoSpeed experience most interesting. The letter “R” at 4 o’clock on the hours sub-dial, stands for “The Rock” or “The Reef” and indicates the duration required to fully charge the instrument.
Showing through a clear sapphire crystal case back and the subdials of the SpidoSpeed is a custom-made integrated chronograph movement with a skeletonised rotor plate bearing the LW logo. This movement allows the crown and pushers to be completely aligned and to facilitate the attachment of the Linde Werdelin instruments.
Revealed by Morten Linde and Jorn Werdelin the design essence, the racing-car inspirations, and the painstaking crasftmanship on The Lab: The Making of the SpidoSpeed - a holistic 3D experience.
The SpidoSpeed comes in a family of 7 models: Gold, Black Diamond, Rose Gold with DLC Titanium, Black Orange, Anthracite DLC, Black DLC, and Steel.
